Jamie's Italian, Liverpool

Last weekend I was invited to try out the menu at Jamie’s Italian restaurant in Liverpool. Although I’m a huge lover of Italian food I’d never been to Jamie’s Italian before so I was excited to see what was on offer. We made our way over to Liverpool One shopping centre where the restaurant is situated and were quickly seated. The decor gave off rustic Italian vibes, with wood panels on the walls, dimmed lights and candles for a cosy atmosphere.

We ordered some cocktails while deciding which mains to go for. I went for ‘Very Berry’ (vodka with raspberry and strawberry purée, fresh lime and crème de mûre) which was so tasty, with an almost smoothie-like texture which I love. My boyfriend went for ‘Jamie’s Mojito’ which was just as lovely and refreshing.

Our waiter was really helpful and recommended some of his favourite dishes to us. With a menu full of pasta, burgers, meat and fish we certainly didn’t struggle for options, but both decided to go classic Italian with pasta. I went for the ‘Veggie Tagliatelle Bolognese’ (tomato, lentil & porcini ragù with garlic, pangrattato and veggie Parmesan) which was beautifully presented and tasted just as amazing as it looked. My boyfriend went for the ‘Famous Prawn Linguine’ (garlicky prawns with tomatoes, fennel, saffron, fresh chilli and rocket) which he said was delicious. We also ordered some garlic bread and Italian greens on the side. The garlic bread was very flavoursome and is something I’d definitely recommend!

The portions were huge and filling, but let’s be honest - there’s always room for dessert. We decided to share the ’Baked Vanilla Cheesecake’ (spiced caramelised orange, smashed honeycomb and pomegranate) which was smooth and creamy, the zesty orange and texture from the honeycomb made a nice change from your typical cheesecake. We also had some espresso shots as they sounded too nice not to try! We went for ‘Jamie’s Chocolate Orange’ which had orange liqueur in, and ‘Caffè Corretto’ (espresso, amaretto and cream) which tasted amazing and finished off the evening perfectly.

My first experience at Jamie’s Italian was faultless. From the friendly service to rustic decor and delicious food and drinks. I’ll definitely be back!
